Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames [ˈkɪŋstən əˌpɒn ˈtɛmz] ist ein Stadtbezirk im Südwesten von London. Den Zusatz „Royal Borough“ (königliche Gemeinde) trägt der Bezirk deshalb, weil er während des Mittelalters Privateigentum der englischen Könige war und nicht als Lehen vergeben wurde.

1965 wurden die Bezirke Malden and Coombe und Surbiton mit Kingston vereinigt; alle drei Bezirke lagen vor der Bildung von Greater London in der Grafschaft Surrey. Die Bevölkerung setzt sich zusammen aus 84,5 % Weißen, 7,8 % Südasiaten, 1,6 % Schwarzen und 1,4 % Chinesen.

Zwischen 900 und 979 wurden in Richmond sieben angelsächsische Könige gekrönt. Der Coronation Stone (Krönungsstein) ist noch immer erhalten. Zwischen Kingston, Richmond und Roehampton befindet sich der Richmond Park; dieser war früher ein königliches Jagdgebiet. Kingston gilt als derjenige Bezirk, der außerhalb des Stadtzentrums die besten Einkaufsmöglichkeiten bietet.
