Handlung

Der Beamte der Justizvollzugsbehörden von Oregon Michael Francke wird als möglicher Kandidat für das Amt des Gouverneurs gehandelt. Er besucht seinen Bruder Kevin, dem er über einen in den Gefängnissen aktiven Ring der Drogenhändler erzählt. Kurz daraufhin wird er ermordet.

Nach der offiziellen Version tötete Francke ein von diesem ertappter Autodieb. Kevin glaubt nicht daran und sucht die wahren Täter. Ein Fernsehreporter hilft ihm dabei. Sie finden die drogenabhängige Tatzeugin Jodie Swearingen.

Kritiken

Harald Keller schrieb in seinem Buch Angelina Jolie, der Film sei eine „Low-Budget-Produktion mit ausgesprochen politischer Zielsetzung“. [1]

Christopher Null spottete auf www.filmcritic.com, der einzige Grund, weswegen jemand den Film sehen würde, sei ein großes Foto von Angelina Jolie auf der DVD-Hülle. Sie erscheine jedoch erst nach einer Stunde des Films. [2]

Hintergrund

Der Film beruht auf einer wahren Geschichte. Er wurde in Florida und in Oregon gedreht. [3] Die ursprüngliche Filmversion – die in Branchenzeitschriften gute Kritiken erhielt – wurde vor der breiten Veröffentlichung stark verändert. [4]
