Zainab (‏زينب‎) ist ein arabischer Frauenname. Er bedeutet "Wüstenblume" oder "Zierbaum".

Andere Schreibweisen sind Zaynab, türkisch Zeynep, Zeineb, Zeinab, Zyneb, Zineb, lateinisch Zenobia. In Bosnien existieren auch die Formen "Zejneb" und "Zejneba" und in Westafrika (Gambia): "Sainabou" und "Zainabou".[1]
