Gaziosmanpaşa ist die Hauptstadt des gleichnamigen Landkreises der türkischen Provinz İstanbul sowie ein Stadtteil auf der europäischen Seite von İstanbul. Gaziosmanpaşa hatte laut der letzten Volkszählung 460.675 Einwohner (Stand Ende Dezember 2008).

Einwohnerentwicklung

Gaziosmanpaşa entstand seit etwa 1970 als Gecekondu, viele Bewohner waren aus Ost- und Südostanatolien eingewandenderte Kurden, die illegal ihre Unterkünfte errichteten. Der Stadtteil ist erst seit Ende der 1980er Jahre mit Wasser und Strom versorgt. Wegen der enormen Bevölkerungsentwicklung entstanden 2008 aus Gaziosmanpaşa zwei neue Stadtteile Arnavutköy und Sultangazi.
