Hoedspruit (afrikaans für ‚Hutfluss‘) ist eine kleine südafrikanische Stadt am Fuße der Kleinen Drakensberge, in der Provinz Limpopo. Die Stadt liegt an der Eisenbahnstrecke von Mbombela nach Louis Trichardt. Der Luxuszug Pride of Africa fährt an der Stadt vorbei, wo er auch einen Halt hat. Hoedspruit liegt auf einer Höhe von 533 Metern über dem Meeresspiegel.[1]

Der Ort wuchs in den letzten Jahren wegen seiner Nähe zu einigen privaten Wildreservaten östlich des Kruger-Nationalparks beständig. Hoedspruit verfügt über einen eigenen Militärflugplatz, auf dem aber auch zivile Luftfahrt zugelassen ist. Der IATA-Code lautet HDS. Während der Betriebszeit des Space Shuttle war hier ein möglicher Notlandeplatz im Falle einer außerplanmäßigen Landung.[2]
