Lin Carter

Linwood Vrooman Carter (* 9. Juni 1930; † 7. Februar 1988) war ein amerikanischer Autor von Science-Fiction und Fantasy, sowie tätig als Redakteur und Kritiker. Er schrieb in der Regel unter dem Pseudonym Lin Carter.

Linwood Carter wurde in St. Petersburg, im US-Staat Florida, geboren, wo er aufwuchs und zur Schule ging. Im Koreakrieg wurde er verwundet und mit dem "Purple Heart" ausgezeichnet. Danach kehrte er für kurze Zeit in seinen Heimatort zurück bevor er 1953 nach New York ging um an der Columbia University zu studieren. Er arbeitete etwa 15 Jahre für verschiedene Agenturen und Verlage und gab 1965 mit "The Wizard of Lemuria" sein Roman-Debüt. 1969 wurde er Vollzeit-Schriftsteller. Er schrieb häufig mehrere Romane und Kurzgeschichten pro Jahr und war Herausgeber mehrerer Fantasy-Geschichtensammlungen. Er verhalf den Geschichten von Robert E. Howard zu einer Renaissance indem er zusammen mit L. Sprague DeCamp und Björn Nyberg Howards Geschichten sammelte, ordnete und mit eigenen Geschichten und Romanen ergänzte.^[1]
