Die Access Linux Platform (ALP), ist ein auf Linux basierendes Betriebssystem für PDAs. Es wird als Nachfolger von Palm OS von Access, in Tokyo, Japan entwickelt und vertrieben.

Geschichte
Die Access Linux Platform wurde im Februar 2006 angekündigt.[1] Die erste Version der Plattform und das Software Development Kit wurden im Februar 2007 veröffentlicht.[2]
ALP ist mit verschiedenen Geräten vorgeführt worden. [3] Mitte 2009 soll das erste Smartphone, das Edelweiss-Gerät von Emblaze Mobile auf den Markt kommen.[4][5] Ebenfalls noch 2009 soll das Monolith-Smartphone erscheinen, das von Sharp in Zusammenarbeit mit Emblaze Mobile und 7 weiteren Partnern entwickelt wird. [6]
Im November 2009 wurde das erste marktreife Gerät, das First Else, der Öffentlichkeit vorgestellt. [7]
Funktionsumfang
Auf PDAs mit Access Linux Platform können Javaprogramme, Palm-OS-Programme, und auf GTK+ basierende Linux-Anwendungen ausgeführt werden. Die ALP ist kompatibel zu LiMo.
