Head On ist ein Computerspiel, das 1979 von der Firma Gremlin als Arcade-Spiel hergestellt wurde. Es gab auch von Sega und Irem Arcade-Versionen. Kurz darauf wurde es aber auch für mehrere Homecomputer, z. B. den VC 20 und Commodore 64 portiert. Das Spiel ist ein Labyrinthspiel wie Pac-Man, allerdings steuert der Spieler ein Auto.

Im Kinofilm von 1982 "Die schrillen Vier auf Achse" - im englischen "National Lampoons Vacation" mit Chevy Chase und Beverly D'Angelo hatte das Spiel einen kleinen Gastauftritt.

Bildschirmaufbau

Es gibt ein Labyrinth von 5 rechteckigen Fahrspuren (bei Portierungen auch 3 oder 4). Die erste befindet sich außen am Bildschirmrand, die anderen verjüngen sich nach innen. Jeweils in der Mitte von allen Himmelsrichtungen, gibt es Öffnungen, bei denen die Spur gewechselt werden kann.

Ziel des Spiels

Wie bei Pac-Man ist es Ziel des Spiels, alle Punkte, die auf der Spur liegen, aufzusammeln. Dann kommt ein neuer Level. Das Auto des Spielers darf dabei nicht mit einem vom Computer gesteuerten Auto zusammenstoßen. Es kann nicht abgebremst oder angehalten, lediglich durch Knopfdruck beschleunigt werden. In späteren Levels gibt es mehrere Computer-Autos. Es gibt auch Versionen, bei denen zwei reale Spieler gegeneinander antreten können.
