Reine Glückssache (Originaltitel: Pure Luck), auch Reine Glückssache – Dumm sucht dümmer, ist ein US-amerikanischer Film aus dem Jahr 1991. Der Film ist ein Remake der französischen Filmkomödie Der Hornochse und sein Zugpferd (La chèvre) aus dem Jahr 1981.

Handlung

Die ungeschickte Millionärstochter Valerie Highsmith verschwindet während eines Mexiko-Urlaubs spurlos. Ihr wohlhabender Vater beautragt daraufhin den alternden Privatdetektiv Ray Campanella, seine geliebte Tochter wiederaufzufinden. Sein als Buchhalter tätiger Partner Eugene Proctor, der häufig von Pech verfolgt wird, hilft Campanella.

Proctor verletzt sich und wird in ein Krankenhaus eingeliefert. Dort wird er in einem Zimmer untergebracht, in dem die unter Gedächtnisverlust leidende Highsmith untergebracht wurde. Während Campanella sich freut, besteigen Highsmith und Proctor eine hölzerne Mole, die unter dem Gewicht zusammenbricht. In der letzten Einstellung sieht man, wie sie auf einem Teil der Mole stehen und auf einen Wasserfall zusteuern.

Kritiken

Das Lexikon des internationalen Films schrieb, der Film sei ein „ziemlich schwaches Remake der französischen Komödie "Der Hornochse und sein Zugpferd"“

Die Zeitschrift Cinema bezeichnete den Film als eine „passable Parodie auf Hollywoods Kumpel-Filme“.[1]

Hintergründe

Der Film wurde in Mexiko gedreht.[2] Seine Produktionskosten betrugen schätzungsweise 17 Millionen US-Dollar. Der Film spielte in den Kinos der USA ca. 22,6 Millionen US-Dollar ein.[3]
