James B. Comey, Jr. (* 14. Dezember 1960 in Yonkers, New York) ist ein US-amerikanischer Jurist und Wirtschaftsmanager, der auch stellvertretender US Attorney General war.
Leben
Nach dem Schulbesuch studierte Comey zunächst Chemie und Religion am College of William & Mary und beendete dieses Studium 1982 mit einem Bachelor of Science (B.S. Chemistry and Religion). Ein anschließendes postgraduales Studium der Rechtswissenschaften an der Law School der University of Chicago schloss er 1985 mit einem Juris Doctor (J.D.) ab.
Daach war er Mitarbeit des Rechtsberatungsrates des National Legal Center for the Public Interest und trat dann 1987 in das US-Justizministerium, in dem er bis 1993 stellvertretender Leiter der Abteilung für Strafrecht (Criminal Division) für den südlichen Distrikt von New York war.
Nach einer anschließenden Tätigkeit als Professor an der University of Richmond war er zwischen 2002 und 2003 US Attorney für den südlichen Distrikt von New York. Danach war Comey, der Mitglied der Republikanischen Partei ist, von 2003 bis 2005 als US Deputy Attorney General stellvertretender Justizminister der USA.
Seit 2005 ist er Senior Vicepresident und Chefrechtsberater des Rüstungs- und Technologieunternehmens Lockheed Martin.
Im März 2011 wurde ihm vom William & Mary College die Carter O. Lowance-Fellowship verliehen.[1]
