MAN Latin America Indústria e Comércio de Veículos Ltda. ist ein Lkw-Hersteller mit Sitz im brasilianischen São Paulo. Das Unternehmen gehört zur MAN-Gruppe und firmierte bis 2008 unter Volkswagen Trucks and Buses. Die Marke Volkswagen Trucks and Buses wird weiter als „Volkswagen“ geführt, auch nachdem die Firma jetzt unter „MAN Latin America“ firmiert.[1]Fast jeder dritte Lkw auf den Straßen Brasiliens stammt von MAN Latin America. Damit ist das Unternehmen klarer Marktführer. 2008 wurden 56.000 Lkw und Busse gebaut. Im Werk in Resende sind 6000 Mitarbeiter beschäftigt.

Die Anfänge der Marke gehen auf Simca zurück, das im Jahr 1958 seine brasilianische Niederlassung Simca do Brasil gründete. Im Jahr 1966 übernahm Chrysler zunächst 92 % und ein Jahr später Simca do Brasil komplett. Seit 1969 produzierte Chrysler in dem Werk Lkw der Marke Dodge.

1979 übernahm die Volkswagen AG zunächst 67 % von dem inzwischen Chrysler Motors do Brasil Ltda. firmierenden Unternehmen und stockte seine Beteiligung wiederum ein Jahr später auf 100 % auf. Im Jahr 2000 wurde die Lkw- und Bus-Sparte offiziell Teil der Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge-Marke von VW.

Im November 1996 wurde das heutige Stammwerk in Resende in Brasilien eröffnet, das rund 150 km von Rio de Janeiro und 250 km von São Paulo entfernt liegt. 2004 wurde das Werk in Mexiko eröffnet und 2007 als drittes Werk die Fertigung von Lkw in Südafrika aufgenommen.

2009 übernahm MAN die Lkw- und Bussparte und führt sie unter dem Namen MAN Latin America weiter.[2] Die Hauptmärkte sind Brasilien, Argentinien, Mexiko, die restlichen Süd- und Mittelamerikanischen Länder, sowie Afrika und der Nahe Osten.
