Handlung

Doug Ireland ist Concierge eines Luxushotels, des Bradburys (Die Fassade des „The Pierre“ in New York City diente als Fassade). Er will Geld ansparen und ein eigenes Hotel eröffnen. Den Hotelgästen macht er zahlreiche Gefallen und löst deren Probleme.

Einer der Gäste, Christian Hanover, könnte als Investor des geplanten Hotels in Frage kommen. Er bittet Doug, sich um seine Freundin Andy Hart zu kümmern. Doug verliebt sich in die Frau. Er zeigt ihr ein heruntergekommenes Gebäude, das er restaurieren und zum Hotel umbauen will.

Ein Mitarbeiter der Finanzbehörden interessiert sich für die Nebeneinkünfte von Ireland. Hanover schlägt vor, aus steuerlichen Gründen das Hotel auf ihn zu überschreiben. Später stellt sich heraus, dass der Finanzbeamte ein Bekannter von Hanover ist, der das Unternehmen übernehmen will. Doug zerreißt die vorbereiteten Unterlagen, Andy macht Schluss mit ihrem Freund.

Am Ende heiraten Doug und Andy. Doug bekommt überraschend ein Darlehen, mit dem er das Hotel öffnen kann.

Kritiken

James Berardinelli lobte zwar Michael J. Fox und Gabrielle Anwar, kritisierte aber das Drehbuch. [1]
