Reveal ist das zwölfte Studioalbum der US-amerikanischen Rockband R.E.M. und wurde am 14. Mai 2001 als Nachfolger von Up veröffentlicht. Das Album erreichte die Spitzenposition der Charts unter anderem in Großbritannien und Deutschland.

Wissenswertes

Das Album setzt sich hauptsächlich aus ruhigeren Titeln zusammen. Imitation of Life wurde 2001 zu einem Sommer-Radio-Hit, dem hohe Chartpositionen jedoch verwehrt blieben^[1].

Kritik

Die Kritiken waren hauptsächlich positiv. Joachim Gauger von laut.de berichtet von traumhaften Songs und einer traumhaften Melancholie für einen lauen Sommerabend^[2]. Für Konrad Heidkamp war das Album ein „Meisterstück“; die Band habe „das Versprechen der magischen Verbindung aus Enigma, Rock-Mainstream und Kunst erfüllt.“^[1] Matthias Eisen von cdstarts.de meint, dass es auch mit Reveal gelungen sei, eine gute und innovativ-atmosphärische Platte abzuliefern^[3]. Bei metacritic.com erreichte das Album einen Durchschnitt von 76 Punkten, basierend auf 20 Reviews^[4].
