Juli 2011 Lage des Einsatzgebietes Die United Nations Mission in the Republic of South Sudan (UNMISS) ist die Nachfolgemission der United Nations Mission in Sudan (UNMIS). Sie wurde mit Beschluss des UN-Sicherheitsrats 1996 vom 7. Juli 2011 gegründet. Anlass war die Gründung des selbständigen Staates Südsudan am 9. Juli 2011.
Deutsche Beteiligung
Derzeit (Stand: September 2011) ist Deutschland mit 12 Soldaten der Bundeswehr beteiligt. Das am 29. September 2011 vom Deutschen Bundestag beschlossene Mandat, das bis zum 15. November 2012 gültig ist, sieht eine Mandatsobergrenze von 50 Soldaten vor.[1]
