Douglas Richard Hurd, Baron Hurd of Westwell, CH, CBE, PC (* 8. März 1930 in London) ist ein britischer Politiker und Diplomat. Er gehörte als Mitglied der Konservativen Partei zwischen 1979 und seinem Rückzug 1995 sowohl der Regierung Thatcher als auch dem Kabinett unter John Major an. Er war Staatsminister im britischen Außenministerium und Nordirlandminister.

1990 war er Teilnehmer an den "Zwei-plus-Vier-Verhandlungen" 1995 beendete er sein Amt als Minister im Kabinett von John Major. 1997 wurde er als Baron Hurd of Westwell, of Westwell in the County of Oxfordshire in den Adelsstand auf Lebenszeit (Life Peer) erhoben.

Schriftstellerische Tätigkeit

Douglas Hurd ist auch als Schriftsteller bekannt.

  • 2003 erschien von ihm in London "Memoirs"
  • 1997 kam The Search for Peace von Douglas Hurd (Little, Brown,) heraus.
