Handlung

Der in San Francisco tätige Psychiater Isaac Barr behandelt die traumatisierte Diana Baylor. Er lernt ihre Schwester Heather Evans kennen, die mit ihrem Wissen bei der Behandlung helfen soll. Barr beginnt mit der mit einem Gangster verheirateten Heather eine Affäre.

Heather bringt Barr dazu, eine Hantel zu berühren, mit der sie später ihren Mann Jimmy ermordet. Sie will die Hantel mit den Fingerabdrücken einem Staatsanwalt übergeben, aber Barr erscheint am Ort der Übergabe und berührt die Hantel erneut. Später kommt es in einem Leuchtturm zum Kampf, in dem Heather stirbt.

Kritiken

Roger Ebert schrieb in der Chicago Sun-Times vom 7. Februar 1992, dass Hitchcock das Drehbuch mögen würde. Er lobte die Filmmusik und die Sexszenen, kritisierte aber die Komplexität der Handlung. [1]

Rita Kempley kritisierte in der Washington Post vom 7. Februar 1992, dass der Thriller unplausibel sei. Sie lobte einige Darstellungen (this film has ... several enjoyable performances). [2]
