An der Universität Cardiff sind etwa 30.800 Studenten eingeschrieben und sie beschäftigt etwa 5.200 Angestellte.

Geschichte
Die Universität wurde 1883 als University College of South Wales and Monmouthshire gegründet. 1972 folgte die Umbenennung in University College, Cardiff. Finanzielle Probleme zwangen die Universität 1988 zur Fusion mit der University of Wales Institute of Science and Technology und 1996 wurde sie schließlich Mitglied der University of Wales. 2004 fusionierte die Universität mit der University of Wales College of Medicine, trennte sich von der University of Wales und nannte sich nun Cardiff University.
