Die Avro 691 Lancastrian war ein Passagier- und Frachtflugzeug des britischen Herstellers Avro.

1943 begann die Entwicklung des Typs Avro 691 auf Basis der Avro Lancaster, als ein Bomber für die zivile Verwendung umgerüstet wurde. Dabei wurde die Nase durch eine aerodynamische Verkleidung ersetzt und in den Bombenschacht wurden Zusatztanks für die Reichweitenerhöhung eingebaut. Der Umbau wurde in Kanada bei Victory Aircraft für die Trans-Canada Airlines vorgenommen

Als das Ende des 2. Weltkriegs absehbar wurde, baute man 30 Lancastrians für die BOAC. Da der Rumpf dem des relativ schmalen Bombers entsprach, war die Passagierkapazität sehr begrenzt. Die Maschinen wurden deswegen ab dem 31. Mai 1945 als VIP- und Luftpostflugzeuge auf der Route von England nach Australien eingesetzt. Weitere Betreiber wurden die Flota Aerea Mercante Argentina (FAMA), British South American Airways und die Qantas. Eine Lancastrian wurde von der Royal Air Force für die erste Weltumrundung mit dem Flugzeug eingesetzt. Mit der Lancastrian wurden zahlreiche Triebwerksversuche durchgeführt. Es wurden auch die neu aufkommenden Strahltriebwerke mit diesem Muster getestet.

Die BOAC-Maschinen wurden auch während der Berliner Luftbrücke eingesetzt. Insgesamt hatten sie jedoch eine relativ kurze Einsatzzeit, da die nachfolgenden Muster (etwa die Douglas DC-6) wesentlich mehr Passagiere befördern konnten und so wirtschaftlicher waren.

Besonders bekannt wurde die G-AGWH Star Dust, die am 2. August 1947 abstürzte und über 50 Jahre verschollen blieb.
