Der NBA Rookie of the Year Award ist eine Auszeichnung der National Basketball Association (NBA) für den besten Neuling (engl.: rookie), d. h. Spieler in seiner ersten NBA-Saison, der Liga in der regulären Saison.
Geschichte
Der NBA Rookie of the Year Award wird seit der Saison 1947/48 vergeben. Die dazugehörende Trophäe ist nach Edward Gottlieb, einem Gründungsvater der NBA und längjährigem Besitzer der Philadelphia Warriors benannt. Den NBA Rookie of the Year wählen dieselben Journalisten, die auch den NBA Most Valuable Player Award vergeben.

Der älteste Gewinner des NBA Rookie of the Year Awards war Ralph Sampson 1983/84 mit 23 Jahren und 9 Monaten. Jüngster Gewinner war LeBron James 2003/04 im Alter von 19 Jahren und 4 Monaten.
Aktueller Rookie of the Year (2010/11) ist Blake Griffin von den Los Angeles Clippers.
