Die Rational AG mit Sitz Landsberg am Lech ist ein Dienstleister sowie Hersteller von Groß- und Industrieküchengeräten zur thermischen Speisenzubereitung.

2010 erwirtschaftete das Unternehmen mit 1.092 Mitarbeitern einen Umsatz in Höhe von 350,1 Millionen Euro (2009: 314,4 Mio. €). Der Jahresüberschuss belief sich im selben Jahr auf 79,8 Millionen Euro (2009: 67,3 Mio. €).[1]

Rational ist seit dem 3. März 2010 im Prime Standard der Frankfurter Börse notiert und stieg am 4. März 2009 in den MDAX auf.

Geschichte

Im Jahr 1973 wurde die „Rational GmbH“ von Siegfried Meister gegründet, als Gesellschaft für Produktion und Vertrieb von Heißluftgeräten in Deutschland. Drei Jahre später begann das Unternehmen mit der Fertigung von Combi-Dämpfern für Großküchen. Im Jahr 2000 wurde die „Rational GmbH“ in eine Aktiengesellschaft umgewandelt. Außer dem Combi-Dämpfer, zählen das SelfCooking Center (seit 2004) und das VarioCooking Center (seit 2005, Vertrieb über die Marke FRIMA) zur Produktpalette des Unternehmens.

Seit 1991 wurden lokale Vertriebsgesellschaften in den folgenden Ländern gegründet: Vereinigtes Königreich (1991), Frankreich (1992), Japan (1992), USA (1993), Italien (1998), Skandinavien (1998), Schweiz (1999), Kanada (1999), Spanien (2000), Russland (2003), Österreich (2005), Polen (2005), China (2007), Griechenland (2007), Mittlerer Osten (2007), Ukraine (2007), Brasilien (2009) und Indien (2010).
