South African Motor Corporation

Die South African Motor Corporation (besser bekannt als SAMCOR) ist ein ehemaliger Automobilhersteller aus Südafrika. Der Firmensitz befand sich in Pretoria im Stadtteil Waltloo.

Das 1985 gegründete Unternehmen war ein Teil der Anglo-American Motor Corporation und dadurch ein Bestandteil des Mutterkonzerns Ford Motor Company. Die Aktienmehrheit an dem Unternehmen erreichte Ford erst 1988. Zehn Jahre später gliederte der Mutterkonzern das Werk in das neue Unternehmen Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa ein. Während der Zeit als SAMCOR eigenständig handelte, wurden Pkw- und Nutzfahrzeug-Modelle der Marken Ford, Mazda und Sao produziert.

1992 begann das Unternehmen auch mit den Export in andere Länder. Zielmärkte waren so neben dem Heimatmarkt Südafrikas nun auch Kenia, Simbabwe, Australien, Neuseeland und Großbritannien. Die Fahrzeuge aus Produktion der SAMCOR sind in der Fahrzeug-Identifikationsnummer am Herstellercode AFA zu erkennen.
