Der VW Polo Variant war ein kleines Kombimodell, das von Volkswagen in den Jahren 1997 bis 2002 gebaut wurde. Er war das Schwestermodell des Seat Cordoba Vario und basierte wie dieser auf dem Seat Ibiza der zweiten Generation. Die Verwandtschaft mit dem VW Polo III beschränkte sich demgegenüber auf einige mechanische Gleichteile.

Modellgeschichte

  • 1997: Vorstellung des Polo Variant mit den Motoren:
    Benziner: 1.4 (60 PS) und 1.6 (75 bzw. 101 PS)
    Diesel: 1.7 SDI (60 PS), 1.9 SDI (64 PS) und 1.9 TDI (90 PS).
  • 1998: Einführung des 1.9 TDI mit 110 PS.
  • 1999: Modellpflege mit u.a. Kombiinstrument und Schalttafel aus dem kleineren Lupo. Der 1.7 SDI entfällt und der 1.9 SDI wurde überarbeitet mit 68 statt 64 PS.
  • 2000: Der 1.4 16V mit 75 PS löst den 1.6 mit 75 PS ab. Der stärkere 1.6 mit 101 PS bleibt weiterhin im Angebot.
  • 2001: Nur noch lieferbar als 1.6 (101 PS) und 1.9 TDI (90 bzw. 110 PS).
  • 2002: Einstellung der Produktion.
